Course

There are two sides of the course that we’ll be racing.   All racers will be racing the course in the same order – Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Stages 1 and 2 – Sierrita and Cielo – will be a bus shuttle from the main venue at Horse Power Ranch.    We will load you in buses from the ranch to take you as far as they can go up to the start of Stage 1, Sierrita – there is then a 30min pedal to the stage start.  Sierrita covers over two miles of true singletrack descent running on the area’s signature fast, rocky, loose terrain.

When you finish Sierrita, the same bus will be at the bottom to pick you up and take you back up to the same drop off, where you will pedal 45min to the start of stage 2, Cielo.  On the Cielo stage riders will experience a variety of terrain including steep, loose, rocky, loamy, and DG.

From the finish of Stage 2 you will pedal past Horse Power Ranch on your way to Stage 3.

Stage 3 –  River stage is a fun trail with it’s tight, fast DG. The stage is over one mile long and it sure to make you smile.  After Stage 3,  another 30min pedal transfer to the start of the final stage, Stage 4 – Arenosa, aka Sandy. This track is sandy/loose rocky, and very steep. At over one mile long, riders will be either relieved or bummed that the  race is over.   And wrap up with a 30min pedal back to Horse Power Ranch.

Here are the stages and transfers on Strava.

Start Times

Start Times posted are the start times at the start of each stage, it is your responsibility to be at each race stage at the time indicated. At the top of the table you will find the estimated transfer time for each stage to help you plan your transfers. We also allocated 10 minutes between stages, beyond the transfer times, to allow you to manage repairs, hydrate and get some food. So you will have plenty of time to make the transfers between stages and enjoy the day and the race.

Ensenada Bike Fest’s Lou Mollineda says, “We’re stoked to be hosting the very first CES race outside of the US. Ensenada, Baja California is known as the ‘Cinderella of the Pacific’ … a magical place. Everyone knows Baja for its awesome fishing, Baja 1000, and friendly people … and very soon, the Ensenada Bike Fest!”

What can riders and their families expect at the Ensenada Bike Fest?

To start off, you will be camping or staying in one of the 56 rooms available at the World Famous Horsepower Ranch that sits on over 100 acres. Horsepower Ranch will be home for the Memorial Day weekend. With its resort-style pool and rich history in the mess hall and cool cantina known as the ”Office,” you might not want to leave. Over the two days of festivities you’ll enjoy ten local breweries and ten awesome wineries, with incredible food ranging from traditional fare like carne asada, rice, beans, and handmade tortillas to freshly caught seafood. And don’t forget the classic churro! Enjoy music, and relax poolside soaking in the Baja sun rays. Take a ride on the brand new cross country course that wraps around the ranch, covering ten miles with over 1,500 feet of elevation on 85% single track. There will also be a killer dual slalom and speed & style course built and designed by downhill racer Kevin Aiello.

For those who are not yet racing, but curious about enduro, a new event — the Grand Fonduro — will be the perfect introduction, getting you out riding two of the five stages that the CES racers will be using. Starting from Horsepower Ranch, you’ll pedal to the River stage, ride that and then head over to Arenosa to plunge into that fast and loose stage. Once the fun is over, riders pedal back to the ranch and enjoy a cold Cerveza.

Stay tuned for more information!
