Race Venue

The race venue for the 2023 Ashland Mountain Challenge is at the top of Lithia Park in Ashland Oregon – Google Maps Link to the Lithia Park venue

There is plenty of parking along Granite St – between 0.25 and 0.5 miles from the venue.   DO NOT PARK IN “NO PARKING” AREAS — you may be ticketed or towed!

Dogs must be on leash in Lithia Park.

Weather – LAYERS!   BE PREPARED for cold and/or wet weather!

There is NO CAMPING in Lithia Park, the White Rabbit parking area, or on Tolman Creek Road and absolutely NO campfires anywhere! Camping is available at Emigrant Lake, Creekside Campground, and Well Springs Campground.

  • Course Inspection: 9am – 5pm
  • Packet Pickup: 3pm – 6pm at Ashland Mountain Adventures – Google Maps Link

Please print and complete the waiver and bring it with you to packet pickup – this will reduce the need to use shared pens, and will speed up packet pickup.

Saturday, Sept 30, 2023  RACE 9:00am!   First shuttles leave at 7:15am!

  • Packet Pickup: 7am – 7:30am at the CES Timing Tent above Lithia Park on Granite St.
  • Race: 9am – 3pm 
  • Awards: Post Race (race could wrap up at 2:30pm, so please arrive early for awards)

YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR OWN PACKETS – CES Team Captain can pick up packets for their team members.

NO LATE PACKET PICK UP

Your race packet will include a voucher for a meal at Falafel Republic and beverage at Gil’s – you can redeem these any time over the weekend.

Rider Meeting

There is NO RIDER MEETING Saturday morning. Your race instructions/rider meeting is when you pick up your packet on Friday!   Bill Roussel, the race director, will be handing out a Rider Meeting instruction sheet. Your opportunity to ask questions is during packet pickup on Friday.

Specialized Neutral Support

Our title sponsor Specialized will be at the race to provide neutral support to help you with repairs and keep you racing this weekend.

Trailforks Stages 1 & 2  and Trailforks Stages 3, 4, & 5

There are two sides of Mount Ashland that we’ll be racing. Stage 1 and Stage 2 are pedal transfer from the main venue in Lithia Park (at the top of Granite St).  Stages 3, 4 and 5 are at the  top of Mt Ashland – Google Maps Link for Mt Ashland – you can self shuttle or take the shuttle from the venue with AMA (coordinate with Sue at packet pickup on Friday for the shuttle).

The course will be fully marked on Friday Sept 29 ready for course inspection. Ashland Mountain Adventures will be running shuttles for practice – reservations at http://ashmtnadv.com/ — or you can self-shuttle to the top of Mount Ashland.

Pros and Experts will race 5 stages – racing them in the order 3, 4, 5, 1, and 2. Pros and Experts will start with a shuttle to the top of Mount Ashland for Stages 3, 4, and 5, then climb to stages 1 and 2 from the venue (after time check at CES tent)

Sport and Beginners will race 5 stages starting with the climb to Stage 1 and Stage 2 from the venue in Lithia Park.   Then either self-shuttle or check-in with Sue immediately after Stage 2 to get your seat/time for the AMA race shuttle to the top of Mt Ashland for Stages 3, 4, and 5.

Race Shuttle

For Stages 3, 4, and 5 – racers can either self-shuttle or take the AMA shuttle.  The AMA shuttle for race day will be located on Glenview Drive, at the bottom of BTI/Jabberwocky..

For Pros and Experts – this is your first stage of the day.

For Sport and Beginners – this is your 3rd stage.

Pros and ExpertsPlease go see Sue at the Shuttle table at packet pickup to get your shuttle assignment for the morning.

Sport and Beginners – Please go see Sue at the Shuttle table at packet pickup. After completing Stage 2, check in at the  Race Timing Tent, and then head over to the shuttle pickup to get assigned a shuttle time. (or get up to the top of Mt Ashland by self-shuttle)

FOX Queen Stage

The FOX Queen Stage will be Stage 3 (Bull Gap) for the Ashland Mountain Challenge  – the racer in each category with the fastest time will get 10 bonus points towards their overall ranking

Also we are tracking stage wins, offering a bonus prize from FOX for the male and female amateur racer with the most stage wins at the end of the season.

The indicated times are the start times at the start of each stage, it is your responsibility to be at each race stage at the time indicated. At the top of the table you will find the estimated transfer time for each stage to help you plan your transfers. So you will have plenty of time to make the transfers between stages and enjoy the day and the race. 

Sport and Beginners – you have start times per category for Stages 1 and 2 – after that, Stages 3, 4, and 5 are first come.  If you are taking the AMA shuttle, get over to the shuttle pickup location on Granite Rd to get your shuttle assignment.   If you are self-shuttling, get to the top of Mt Ashland ASAP and get going – first come.  Keep moving, you need to complete the stages by the time indicated before the stage closes.

Pro and Expert – you are starting at the top of Mt Ashland.    If you are taking the AMA shuttle, get over to the shuttle pickup location on Granite Rd to get your shuttle assignment.   If you are self-shuttling, get to the top of Mt Ashland at 8:30am (that will get you to the start of Stage 3 at 8:50am).   Keep moving, you need to complete the stages by the time indicated before the stage closes.

NOTE: Time Check – these time checks are at the CES Timing Tent for us to download your stage times off your timing chip. These checks are immediately after you complete Stage 2 and Stage 5. The CES Timing Tent is above Lithia Park on Granite St.
